Life, According to Me, Part 1

Filed under: Stories — Mary @ 1:13 pm

Quite a few years ago I faced myself clearly for the first time. I’m not talking about looking in the mirror. I’m talking about coming face to face with my soul and spirit.  And I saw for the first time in my life that I was a force of nature when it came to control, controlling things, people, events.  I had lived much of my life according to me.  I thought as sure as the sun rises and sets, that if my husband and my children lived their lives according to my ideas, things would be fine. After all, I was a good person with good motives and intentions, wasn’t I? I might not be a rocket scientist, but I had common sense.

But after playing push  for many years I got shoved back. Things didn’t go the way they were supposed to. I had lost control and as a result I felt my life spiraling, almost fracturing around me. What had gone wrong? Why didn’t it work the way I had always thought? Again, even those thoughts centered around ME.

Good Point, Ann!

Filed under: Stories — Mary @ 9:54 am

Good question, Ann. In what are they putting their faith? The ability of the plane to fly, the pilot’s abilities, are they ‘odds-makers’, figuring the likelihood of something like that happening again is very small?
Do they trust in the Lord to keep them safe?
One thing we DO know…the Lord will use this crash to His glory. And we can pray it give people a reason to look UP!

Getting Back on the Horse…er, I mean Plane

Filed under: Stories — Mary @ 8:09 pm

Could you get back onto a plane the same day you crash landed into the Hudson? I was pretty astonished to see video of some passengers doing just that. I consider that to be raw courage…with a large dose of faith to match.
“Could I do that?” I’ve been asking myself. Truth is, I’m not altogether sure and I’m terribly glad that decision is not mine to make.
Hats off to those who crashed and chose to get back on the horse, so to speak.
You’re an inspiration to all of us.
